Roger and Dawn Hubmer own and operate a small 5th generation family farm in south central Minnesota, where they raise corn, soybeans, Berkshire Pork and free ranged Omega-3 chickens, all naturally. They implement a variety of sustainable farming practices to help preserve the farm for the next generation. While raising their own pork and chickens, no antibiotics, hormones, animal bi-products or feed grade drugs are used.

Prairie Pride farm is considered a closed farm. This means that no animals are brought onto the farm that could have diseases. Herd safety helps to insure food safety, and this is very important to us! Prairie Pride Farm has the specific breeding stock for Berkshire Pork.
Heritage Berkshire Pork is known the world over for its superior flavor and tenderness. This specific breed of pork is hand selected because of its wonderful intramuscular fat! Fat carries flavor and flavor is what is in high demand today. For the best frying and baking experience ever, try our leaf lard. No extra solutions are needed to add back in flavor, our pork has it naturally.
No antibiotics or hormones or feed grade drugs are used. We grind our livestock feed from the grains we grow using sustainable farming practices. This provides our animals healthy, safe feed plus preserves the land for the next generation.
Our livestock is raised outdoors in deep bedded shelters, as much as possible, year round. We select only the best from our herd, to become Prairie Pride Pork.
What is different about our Omega 3 Chickens?
Omega-3 fatty acid was thought to be found only in fish and flax fed chickens. But a recent University of MN study, done on our farm, shows that our chickens have 145 mg of Omega 3 per 6oz serving. A ratio of 8:1 of omega 6:3 is incredible. This provides a substantial amount of healthy fat for your diet. Why is that so?
Our Clover Pastured Chickens are raised the same way that Dawn's Grandma Holteen did, outdoors with lots of TLC! The alfalfa, wheat and oat blend of grasses on the pasture, create a smorgasbord of tasty grasses for the chickens to eat. We also have a mixture of ground corn feed for them to eat, if they so desire. This meaty breed of chicken has a large abundance of white meat, juicy dark meat and healthy yellow skin. Soon to be a hit at your family's Sunday dinner.

Prairie Pride packages over 40 Berkshire pork cuts for today's smaller families. So you can purchase just the cuts you want, like: bone-in rib chops, boneless loin roasts, tenderloin, boston butt roast, sirloin pork steaks, hickory smoked bacon, pork belly and even rendered lard for baking or frying.
All of our meats are shrink wrapped and flash frozen to lock in freshness and flavor at its peak. NO Nitrates are used for processing smoked meats. We take personal pride in bringing you the very best from our farm to you.
